Of the 1125 residential properties listed on the Multiple Listing Service for sale in Marin County (as of March 2011) 287 are offered as short sales … that’s 26% … as compared to sales during 2010 … 2322 total sales, 282 or 12% were short sales …. many more are listed than actually sell … frequently as a result of a lack of understanding or education.  

 

In Sonoma County there are 2506 residential properties listed, of which 35% or 883 are listed as short sales … during 2010 there were 5031 total sales, of which 20% or 1014 properties were short sales … not a great success ratio.
