PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Tom Verkozen ...

Real Estate for a good night's sleep.

One of only sixteen brokers to receive the prestigious Frank Howard Allen Founder’s Award, Tom is also a recipient of the Chairman’s Circle of Excellence. He has chaired FHA’s Advisory Council and was one of the first agents on the west coast to be designated a Certified Distressed Property Expert (for his work with short sales and REOs).

Tom is also one of the first agents to become a Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES). Tom is an alumni of the Graduate REALTOR Institute (GRI), wrote the real estate column for the Marin Independent Journal from 1984 – 1996, and created Dancing Coyote Beach, a bed and breakfast in Inverness, and The Poet’s Loft in Marshall.

In over twenty-five years as a real estate broker, Tom has twice been elected to the Marin Association of Realtors’ board of directors. He has chaired the Association’s education, commercial, investment, and professional standards committees, and has produced and presented numerous real estate presentations, including “The Art of Probate Sales,” “Top Producer” and “A Star to Steer By.”

Community involvement is important to Tom: he chaired the San Anselmo Tax Equity Board for three years; served on the town’s Ridgeland’s Committee for two years; raised funds for Habitat for Humanity; participated in half a dozen ‘Christmas in April’ house renovations; served seven years as a director of Slide Ranch (an environmental education teaching ranch); been a Wish Grantor for Make A Wish for five years; a suicide prevention hotline volunteer for five years and has been with Hospice By The Bay for sixteen years as a patient care, bereavement, and end-of-life vigil-sitting volunteer.
